Can you put a skip on the road outside your house?
If you know that your skip is going to be placed anywhere that is not a part of your property and is officially owned by the council and/or public, i.e. the road or pavement outside your home, then you must have a permit before the skip is delivered.
Can you put a skip on the street?
Restrictions. You can't put a skip on the pavement. You don't need a skip licence if you're putting the skip entirely on private land. You may need to put safety lights and markings on or around the skip.

Do I need council permission to place a skip on a road, pavement or grass verge? Yes. A Skip Licence/Skip Permit needs to be issued from your local council. They will charge a fee for the skip to be placed on the road, verge or pavement.

If you live in a detached house you can place your skip anywhere either side, front or back of your property as long as there is sufficient space and easy access for loading and unloading the skip.
How long can I keep a skip on my drive?
You can keep your skip as long as you require but the normal period is between one and 14 days. If your skip is on the road, you will need to check the length of time covered by your permit.
